Which Address Should I Put On Dad’s VA Application?

One of the common reasons that a VA application is denied or that a VA pension is reduced is because of failure for the veteran or widowed spouse to properly communicate with the VA in a timely manner. It is extremely important that all requests for information from the VA are responded to as soon as possible. However, it can often be difficult to decide which address to provide to the VA. For example, your parent may not check their mail regularly or they may have dementia and not handle the mail properly.

If you are concerned that your parent may not be able to respond to VA correspondence, one solution is to provide your address on the VA Aid and Attendance Application rather than your parent’s address. This will ensure that you receive all correspondence from the VA so that you can comply with those requests as quickly as possible.
