Can Dad Still Receive Aid & Attendance if he Lives Overseas?

Some people may be wondering whether their parent can receive VA Aid and Attendance benefits if the parent now lives out of the country. Thankfully, the answer to this question is simple: if your parent qualifies for the benefit, it does not matter where he or she lives, whether it is in America or across the world. However, all documentation submitted with the Aid and Attendance Application must be in English. If some of the documentation is not in English, you may want to consult a professional translation service to translate the required documents into English.

A word of caution: if your parent lives in a nursing home or assisted living facility in another country, remember to convert the cost into American dollars when calculating expenses for VA purposes. It is important to be sure that your parent qualifies for the benefit before you move forward with the application process.
